My goodness.
I haven’t written on here since December 2023!
Full transparency: I’m reviving this Substack in response to the MAGA monopolies that are brewing. In my efforts to reduce my energy spent on Meta owned apps, I’ll be exploring different methods to see which of them I can sustainably commit to.
A goal of mine is to continue creating and joining spaces on and offline that allow us to deepen our bonds with the folks we’re already in community with while also building relationships with those aligned and ready to connect.123
Opening
Please bare with me as this post is a girthy wave of life updates. My energy lately is somewhere between being focused and also distracted. Lolll.
Waves of emotional experiences have been pounding and humbling my ass. Energetically penetrating and reawakening the parts of my being that have been numbed by the agents of capitalism. Especially in the moments where myself, like many of us, feel the spirals surface when the currents of currency run still.
Sidenote: I’m open to part-time gigs. And in case you’re wondering, yes, I’m very good at using my hands for thing-a-lings. 😉
As still waters run deep, the weight of the ocean reminds me of my ability to expand my capacity to care. To be resourceful. To trust that my wave is arriving. To understand the multiplicity of truths that exists and co-exists in harmony. To be present during the crescendo and have peace for when its time for the ultimate release.

Ease and Slow
I’ve been in hibernation mode since returning from Las Pilipinas. My time there is a story for another day, but what I will share is that expectations were shattered, and where I once felt resentful, I’m now realizing the gifts the islands gave me.
Maraming salamat din po Pilipinas.
Although it’s natural to move slower during the nesting season of winter, the voices of capitalism continues to auto-tune its way into the top 40. Singing hymns that reinforce ideologies of individualism, scarcity, and isolation. Having the audacity to say we’re not moving fast enough or over-extending our bodies enough to have our basic needs met.
It’s taken a lot of work to not revert back to default patterns and behaviors. Especially when resources that were on reserve begin to recede. Turning from green to yellow until your left on red.
I’m grateful that after 39 years of living on earth, life has brought me to experience this more embodied version of co-living. My roomie and I have that soul-sib yin-yang energy and our land-mate is a love-filled reflection of how we can practice a different way of being. I’d share more but I’m not sure of the level of personal details I’m willing to publicly display on here yet.
Discernment is important cause some eyes are just nosey.
For me, slowing down is grounding me back into a daily rising practice and being ok when motivation needs more time to build. Part of my practice includes going on an (almost) daily walk to get D from the sun along with 3 lemons from the neighborhood. Cause why? They’re free gifts from nature.
Thank you nature.
Honor-a-Ball
Over the weekend we met up Kuyatang aka Ate Aimee in SF to honor and celebrate the life of their dear friend Rashad. The love in the space was so full and the reverence for celebration was moving thru everyones spirit. I also got to meet Sammay for the first time IRL. These serendipitous moments continue to reaffirm that I’m meant to be where my intuition guides me.
It was yet another reminder that being in community with folks who truly see you is a potent way to help process, move, and heal alongside our grief. What a blessing it was to witness folks express their truth and be at home in their bodies while also finding home within each other.
Downtown Bussy
On MLK day I rode the bus for the first time out here. I was so proud of myself, cause although I’ve lived in cities where I took the train to get around, somehow my mind made up a story that taking the bus was going to be a daunting task.
But long story long, I was proven wrong. The bus system was easeful, granted it was a national holiday. I took the NL to Oscar Grant Plaza and attended the 11th Annual MLK March.
The gathering was a beautiful representation of community and resilience. Hope, rage, exhaustion, and determination filled the air. The energy felt like when you’re on the verge of tears but the tear ducts are a bit dried out.
Gratitude to Kuyatang for another invitation to connect and to Kim Arteche for the potent body and energy work. Much love to the organizers (APTP) and everyone involved who made this happen.

Looking up APTP I also learned about the conflict happening between leadership and the APTP workers union in regards to a request for voluntary recognition. What I appreciated as an outsider looking in is the transparency being communicated. Even though there is no current resolution to their demands, the workers union still encouraged folks to show up at the event to honor their labor and support the families and communities their work centers.
Conflict resolution is such an important skill many of us aren’t ready or feel equipped to practice. Yet it’s an integral aspect in building any relationship. Many folks desire to be in community but aren’t willing, ready, or feel safe enough to communicate vulnerably and honestly. There’s more to discuss around this topic, which I’ll save for, you guessed it, another day.
Time-lapsing
The last 2.5 weeks feels like 2.5 years.
From the devastating fires in LA, the historic winter storm in the Gulf coast, the pervasive denials of corporate greed fueling climate change, the TikTok debacle, the hoarders of wealth hurdling themselves to oblivion, the absurdities of the political circus, the sadistic enforcement of the gender binary, the obsession of enacting bans on bodily autonomy, the inhumane borders and deportations, the 470 days of witnessing a genocide thru our devices from a war that began 75 years ago, and the ongoing fight for sovereignty and self-determination of the people in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lebanon, Sudan, the Kingdom of Hawai’i and to right here on Turtle Island — this season of being a human on earth is a giant wild card full of premeditated corruption and egotistical manipulation.
Rest here cause that was a long ass sentence…
There’s not much more that I can say that already hasn’t been said. Gratitude to all the beings dedicating their time on earth towards this conscious raising and relationship building work. Work that has taken lifetimes to integrate in our bodies for us to practice more embodied.
